Petnaestogodišnji kapetan

Petnaestogodišnji kapetan

Jules Verne

"The Fifteen-Year-Old Captain" is an adventure novel that follows young Dick Sand, a fifteen-year-old boy who takes command of the ship Pilgrim after the captain and crew are killed.

Also on board are Mrs. Weldon, her son Jack, and several blacks who become Dick's loyal allies. After the ship is sabotaged by the infamous cook Negoro, the ship is stranded on the coast of Africa, although the passengers believe they have reached South America. They soon become victims of deception and betrayal - Negoro teams up with slave traders. Dick and his friends face a series of dangers, including cruel traders, dangerous animals, and harsh natural conditions.

Despite his youth and inexperience, Dick shows great courage, resourcefulness, and moral fortitude. In time, he manages to save himself and his companions and expose the injustices of the slave trade, while the novel carries a strong message against colonialism and racism. Verne masterfully combines a tense plot with moral lessons, depicting a hero who, despite his age, shows maturity and leadership.
