The Greek philosopher Parmenides, a native of Elea (around 515 BC - 435 BC), one of the most influential pre-Socratic philosophers, is the author of the epic On Nature, a fundamental philosophical text of the earliest period of Greek and Western thought. With the question of battle and its relationship with the mind, Parmenides' epic is the source of ontology as a general metaphysics and fundamental branch of philosophy, and is also the starting point for the understanding of logos (speech) and the relationship between logos and myth.
