Knjiga „Pa makar nam život uzeli“ poznatog norveškog novinara i književnika Pera Hanssona duboko je dojmljiva kronika o neslomljivom ljudskom duhu i neizmjernoj hrabrosti. U središtu je priče sudbina obitelji Morset — oca Pedera, majke Marit i njihovih sedam sinova — s maloga poljoprivrednog imanja u norveškoj pokrajini Selbu, koji su se među prvima usprotivili nacističkoj okupaciji. Vodeći se nepokolebljivim moralnim načelima, obitelj je svoj dom pretvorila u ključnu postaju pokreta otpora, sklonište za ilegalce i kurire te raskrižje tajnih puteva slobode.

Hansson s majstorskom napetošću i novinarskom preciznošću rekonstruira dramatične događaje koji su kulminirali u zimu 1943. godine, kada nacistički okupatori i lokalni kvislinzi pokreću nemilosrdnu hajku na obitelj. Izbjegavajući patetiku, autor ogoljuje svu surovost totalitarnog sustava, ali ujedno stvara dirljiv spomenik obiteljskoj solidarnosti, ljubavi prema domovini i dostojanstvu koje ni pred licem smrti nije pokleknulo. Ovaj snažan književni dokument nadahnjuje i podsjeća na cijenu slobode te na pojedince čija tiha žrtva nadživljuje ratove.
