Dragosavac first explains what the law of value is according to Karl Marx – the fundamental economic law of commodity production in which the exchange of goods depends on socially necessary working time.
Dušan Dragosavac's 1976 book The Law of Value in the Stalinist Concept presents a critical analysis of the way Joseph Stalin interpreted and applied the law of value in the economy of the Soviet Union. The author approaches the topic from a Marxist and self-management socialist perspective, characteristic of Yugoslav economic thought at the time, with an emphasis on the differences between Soviet centralism and the Yugoslav model of workers' self-management.
