Povjestice
August Šenoa's "Povjestice" is a collection of narrative poems that combine historical events, legends, and folk motifs.
The collection shows how Šenoa wanted to bring the past closer to the ordinary reader through interesting, often dramatic stories in verse. The characters are usually strongly morally marked – courage and honesty are rewarded, betrayal and evil are punished. “Povjestice” are an important part of Croatian literature because they combine folk tradition and literary art in an accessible, vivid way.
