Lana Derkač's prose is one of those rare exceptions that does not agree to race on readership charts and adapt to the laws of market logic, exceptions in which subtlety and reflection take precedence over fabularization and flirting with readers.
Stories about seemingly ordinary people, placed in recognizable time-space coordinates, are not just prose miniatures that describe somewhat anxious human existences and situations (motives of marital violence, inability to communicate between couples, etc.), but rather, it is as if in each of them we can encounter implicit or explicit records of the meaning of life, the uniqueness of which is greatly disrupted by details that complement scenes from everyday life with a nuance of the irrational and fantasy.
