The book is a read in which the author, using historical sources, faced the task of thoroughly explaining the way in which the Ottoman Empire conquered medieval Bosnia.
An important part of the book is the explanation of the process of spreading Islam in the area of medieval Bosnia, which, as the author sees it, was conducted without violent "conviction". This was a process, says Bešlija, in which the Bosnian nobles, as well as the peasantry, which the Ottomans found in the conquered territory, participated equally.
