Tarzan gospodar zvjeradi

Edgar Rice Burroughs

The third novel in the famous Tarzan series. Tarzan's enemies kidnap his son and Jane, leaving him trapped on a deserted island. With the help of beasts (apes, panthers, and lions), Tarzan takes revenge and saves his family.

The story takes place after Tarzan's return to Africa. Tarzan and Jane are living peacefully with their young son Jack when they are attacked by old enemies – German officer Nikolas Rokoff and his associate. They kidnap the child, capture Jane, and leave Tarzan on a remote island without weapons or clothing.

Tarzan, using his jungle knowledge and ability to communicate with animals, assembles an coalition of wild beasts: great apes (Mangani), a black panther Sheita, and a lion. With them, he sets off on a revengeful journey through the African jungle and rivers. The novel is full of action, fights, escapes, and dramatic twists, and emphasizes Tarzan's connection to nature and the animals who accept him as their leader.

This is one of Tarzan's most popular early works because it strongly emphasizes the theme of the lord of the beasts – Tarzan as the king of the jungle who commands the animals. The style is typical of Burroughs: fast-paced action, exotic locations, clear division into good and evil characters, and romantic idealism.

In interwar Croatia and Yugoslavia, this Kuglijevo edition was very popular among young readers. Today it is considered a classic part of the series and a sought-after example of old popular literature.
