Split ’72: XII internacionalni festival zabavne muzike
The collection of songs “Split ’72” brings a selection from the 12th International Pop Music Festival in Split: from Dalmatian chansons to pop ballads by authors such as Runjić, Kalogjera, Mihaljinac and others.
Split ’72 is a festival collection of songs that brings together the repertoire of the 12th edition of the Split Festival – recognizable Mediterranean melodies, pop hits and romantic ballads ready for performance.
The core of the release is composed of authors who shaped the Dalmatian and Yugoslav pop sound of the early seventies: the lyricism of Zdenko Runjić (a series of songs such as Rusticana, Stara pisma, O’ kada te nima, Ponoćna serenada, U mome mjestu, Ljeto bez sunca, Zlato moje, Usne mi prislatke daj, Pisnik), the hit sensibility of Nikica Kalogjera (Dal’ bi ti, Balada o ribaru), the pianistic elegance of Stipica Mihaljinac (Odvešću te na vjenčanje), the authorial signature of Alfija Kabilja (Probudi se), the chansonnier nerve of Đelo Jusić (Noćna muzika, Ja blaga neman), as well as the contributions of D. Šerbljenović (Decembarska pisma), Tereza Bebić (Leute moj), Ivica Robić (Jednoga dana), N. Vilović (Sto miliona (100,000,000), Di si bija kad je grmilo, Dobro jutro), Jure Robežnik (Val na valu spi), Zvonimir Špišić (Mama), Dragutin Novković (Ca ću pisma, Šta ću činit kad sam furešt), Mladen Tomašević (Đovanina), Pero Gotovac (O’ kada te nima) and Vilibald Čaklec (Pod lumbrelon).
The publication is designed as a practical collection for performance: each composition comes with music notation and/or lyrics, suitable for singers, klapa groups, bands and school ensembles. The stylistic range ranges from Dalmatian canzones with emphasized melodies and Mediterranean harmonies to urban chansons and dance pop numbers that marked the festival evenings of 1972.
As a representative cross-section of authors and songs, Split ’72 also offers documentary value — capturing the transition from classical schlager to the more contemporary pop expression of the early seventies. Ideal for collectors, performers and anyone who wants to include the proven melodies of the Split school in their repertoire.
