Kalinda

Kalinda

Evan Green

The epic sequel to Adam's Empire follows Adam Ross' family on their Australian estate, Kalinda. Through World War II and the decades that followed, family dramas, wartime horrors, and new loves intertwine.

The novel "Kalinda" by Australian journalist and author Evan Green is a striking and extensive family saga that continues the story begun in his hit novel "Adam's Empire". The plot revolves around Adam Ross, a former orphan who, with his own efforts, built a huge sheep farm "Kalinda" in the harsh Australian outback (Outback). Although he has achieved financial stability and family happiness, Adam's peace is soon disrupted by the pressure of social prejudice, legal threats over custody of his daughter and the loss of his beloved partner Nellie.

With the outbreak of World War II, a devastated Adam enlists in the army and is sent to the front in Nazi-occupied Greece. There, amidst the whirlwind of war and the struggle for survival, he finds a new opportunity for love that will forever change the course of his life and the fate of his family. Over several decades, the story follows how the characters' fates intertwine again on the Kalinda estate.

Evan Green masterfully blends the epic landscapes of the Australian wilderness with intimate human dramas in this work. The novel explores themes of belonging, racial and social divisions of the time, sacrifice, and the strength of family bonds. "Kalinda" is a richly narrated adventure steeped in passion and historical turmoil.
