Strategijska obrambena operacija '91./'92. godine

Strategijska obrambena operacija '91./'92. godine

Vinko Vrbanac, Stjepan Antološić

The military-professional study examines the defense of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem in 1991/1992. Direct participants and HV officers reconstruct key operations that stopped the aggression and defended the Croatian state.

The book Strategic Defense Operation '91/'92, authored by retired Major General Vinko Vrbanac and retired Brigadier Stjepan Antolašić, is a comprehensive doctrinal and military-historical study written by direct participants and planners of defense operations. The authors analyze in detail the events on the unique Slavonian battlefield in the period from the second half of 1991 to the beginning of April 1992, proving that one of the two key strategic operations of the Homeland War was conducted in Slavonia (along with the offensive operation Storm '95).

Drawing on archival materials, enemy war documents (such as aggressor Directives) and command experiences, the work reveals the plans of the JNA and Serbian units and analyzes the role of the heroic defense of Vukovar and the offensive operation Papuk '91 as decisive points. Special emphasis is placed on the role of the units of the Osijek Operational Zone, the organization of the defense of large cities, and the coordination of brigades that prevented the cutting off of Croatia.

Rich in maps, photographs, and testimonies of defenders, the book offers an irreplaceable insight into the military tactics and strategy that stopped the significantly superior aggressor resources.
