Tess Gerritsen

In the suspenseful thriller The Surgeon, Boston detective Jane Rizzoli hunts a serial killer whose rituals perfectly match the methods of the villain whom Dr. Isles killed two years ago.

The Surgeon by acclaimed American author Tess Gerritsen is a dark, terrifyingly compelling, and highly suspenseful medical thriller that introduces readers to the dark world of serial killers and forensic investigations. A killer appears on the quiet streets of Boston, his methodical and sadistic crimes mirroring those of a villain known as "The Surgeon," who was supposedly murdered two years earlier. The case is taken over by the ambitious and sharp-witted detective Jane Rizzoli, the only woman in the Homicide Unit, who must rely on the help of doctor and pathologist Maura Isles to investigate.

As the number of victims grows, the investigators realize they are dealing with a cold-blooded psychopath who carefully selects his victims and leaves terrifying surgical signatures. The situation becomes even more terrifying when it is revealed that the only surviving victim from the past, Dr. Catherine Cordell, is once again the target of the same monster. As the web slowly unravels, Jane Rizzoli must overcome her own doubts and prejudices and confront a killer who tortures his victims with surgical precision.

Gerritsen masterfully uses her medical knowledge to create an atmosphere of suspense and fear, delivering a story that keeps the reader glued to the pages until the very end.
