Sve što činimo u mraku

Jennifer Hillier

Suspenseful psychological thriller by Jennifer Hillier. Paris Peralta is accused of murdering her wealthy husband. As she fights to prove her innocence, her dark, long-buried past comes to the surface.

"Things We Do in the Dark" (Croatian translation published in 2022) is an extremely exciting and dark psychological thriller by award-winning author Jennifer Hillier. The plot follows Paris Peralta, a woman who seems to be leading a perfect life in elite circles, until the morning when she wakes up in her own bathroom holding a razor, while her much older and extremely wealthy husband lies dead in the bathtub. Paris immediately becomes the prime suspect in a brutal murder, but her greatest fear is not going to prison for a crime she claims she did not commit, but the media attention that threatens to expose her true identity. As the media hunt intensifies, long-buried secrets from Paris's former life and her traumatized youth begin to surface. The story also follows the reopening of an old murder case from her past, with the author skillfully weaving a web of tension, twists and false leads. Through dynamic and layered characters, Hillier explores difficult themes such as surviving domestic abuse, physical and psychological trauma, revenge, fluid manipulation, and the desperate struggle to make a new start under someone else's name. Written in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, and atmospheric style that keeps the reader in suspense until the very end, this novel is a superb example of the modern thriller genre. "Everything We Do in the Dark" is a compelling and moving story about the strength of the human spirit and the price an individual must pay to overcome the ghosts of their own past.
