Autor, inače i sam strastveni lovac, diplomrani je biolog, a bavi se publicistikom i slikanjem. U knjizi je objavio dijelove svog lovačkog dnevnika. Štivo je bogato ilustrirano umjetničkim slikama, a posebno poglavlje posvećeno je animalistici, umjetničkom pravcu koji pronalazi nadahnuće u životinjama.
