Teka 4 — tekstovi/kritika
An issue on style, political language and literature, featuring Kaštelan’s poetry, analyses of Marx and Lenin, and essays on political discourse, commitment and Marcuse.
Published in spring 1974, issue four of Teka connects literary writing with the analysis of style, ideology and political language. Poetry and theoretical essays contribute to a broader discussion of language, society and artistic commitment.
The issue opens with Jure Kaštelan’s Oluja dolazi s neba a pred njom užas i utvare. Ludovico Silva examines the characteristics of Marx’s style, Viktor Shklovsky considers Lenin as a decanonising force, and Boris Eikhenbaum analyses stylistic tendencies in Lenin’s language. Boris Tomashevsky contributes Konstrukcija »teza«. Together, these essays connect stylistic analysis with the political effects of language.
Vjeran Zuppa contributes Jezik kao strategija, while Dubravko Škiljan examines the linguistic and extralinguistic world of political discourse. The issue also includes continuations of Dinko Štambak’s Makljenov list ili grčke puti and Predrag Matvejević’s Od tendencije do angažmana. Branka Brujić discusses historicity and being in Herbert Marcuse’s thought.
An extensive review section covers philosophy, literature, visual art and music. The issue offers a record of theoretical culture in the 1970s, particularly relevant to readers interested in stylistics, Marxism and literary criticism.
