Smrt trave

Smrt trave

John Christopher

Death of the Grass is a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel by the British writer John Christopher published in 1956.

The plot describes how a virus attacks and destroys all plants from the poaceae family, causing not only all grass to disappear in the world, but also cereals, which causes cataclysmic mass starvation and the collapse of civilization. The protagonist is John Custance, a British engineer who, together with his family and a friend, travels through England trying to reach an isolated valley where a preserved potato farm is located and how he becomes a witness, but also a participant, of brutal violence in an effort to survive.

In 1970, a feature film entitled No Blade of Grass was made based on the novel.
