The peasant uprising is a historical novel by the Croatian writer August Šenoa. It was first published in the magazine Vijenac in 1877. It is one of August Šenoa's five novels and his most important historical novel.
Young gentleman: August Šenoa describes the chaplain Janko Lugarić, whose real name was Janko Puškarić (1801-1874), and he was a chaplain until his death in various parishes in Hrvatski Zagorje, Pokuplje and Turopolje.
With this, his fourth novel, Antun Šoljan (1932) again enriches "prose in jeans", which he is the most expressive representative of in Croatian literature.
