Slavko Batušić

This book is part of the series "Slavonica - contributions of Slavonia to Croatian literature and history".

Slavko Batušić traveled through European countries and cities and translated his impressions and observations into travel prose. In his travelogues we can find descriptions of the art of Italian masters and cities, as well as thematization of toponyms and painting of the European north. Batušić used his formal education in art history as a reference point, and was particularly inspired by his study stay in Paris, where he consulted literature for his travels. Travelogues were an important part of Batušić's literary creativity, and his ability to convey impressions from his travels was often extremely picturesque and interesting. Although he later became better known as a theater scholar and writer, his travelogues remain a valuable contribution to Croatian literature and art history.
