In it, often with irresistible humor, he considers the entire spectrum of exotic topics, from the justification of suicide and the chance in the death of Jesus Christ through various models of the universal world language to the fantastic conflict between paleontologists and theologians in the 19th century, due to the biblical account of the creation of the world. There are also portraits of storytellers, poets and fanatics whose works are often forgotten, but which contain insights into previously unknown areas of the spirit. With his 'Other Researches', Borges deeply and fruitfully influenced some of the most famous philosophers and writers, including, for example, Michel Foucault and Umberto Eco. Written in an extraordinary style and covering a vast range of subjects, from Buddhism, the building of the Great Wall of China, and the mystery of God's name, Borges's essays often read like true crime stories.
