Dvoboj orlova

Peter Townsend

Much has been written about the history of the Second World War and there are countless views and interpretations of certain stages of the war.

Some are objective, and some still serve the interests of various countries. Peter Townsend's ``Duel of Eagles'' is, however, not only a view of the air war of that bygone era, but also the history of the creation of the RAF, the Air Force of Great Britain, and a torn but extremely significant episode - the battle for great britain. The author and actor of those duels over Britain and the canal, he distinguished himself by his combativeness and determination to defend the British convoys from the onslaught of German bombers. He was shot down twice, once by his prey, a Do-17 bomber, and the second time by a Messerschmitt Bf109, and on that occasion he was seriously wounded.
