Propast Titanica

Propast Titanica

Walter Lord

"The writer of this book is not making anything up. He is only interested in the facts that caused the downfall of the Titanic, the most luxurious and largest passenger steamship at the beginning of the twentieth century.

He is interested in the facts related to the ship that on that fateful night 53 years ago collided with an iceberg on its first voyage to New York and dragged to the bottom of the sea - according to the estimate of the British Ministry of Trade - 1,490 people. All witnesses agree that the Titanic hit the iceberg at 11:40 p.m. and sank at 2:20 a.m. But they disagree on what happened from the collision to the sinking. The writer of this book, on the basis of many conversations with survivors, and on the basis of already existing literature and the press of the time, managed to reconstruct in detail one of the biggest maritime disasters.

In a literary convincing way, Vuletić breaks down the taboo of Stalinism, which is equally freakish in every careerist and in every time in which the individual, and the collective, serves the government, and not the continuous liberation of man. - Jure K
