Pehistica

Pehistica

Lenka Prochazkova

Prague. A time of denial of intellectual rights and freedoms. The time of "flight to the west" or hiding in the homeland.

Pavla is a young writer, but by necessity she is also a housekeeper in the theater. Jozef is an older writer, married, but has been living in a parallel love relationship with Pavlo for several years. Lucka is their little girl. However, another child is on the way, and from this situation a crisis of the couple is born... The contemporary Czech writer built this novel on a note from her own past, a crisis period in her long-term relationship with the writer Ludvik Vaculik (who as a counter-response he wrote the novel "Kako se prave muška dječa"), in which he talks in a witty and ironic way not about his own intimate drama, but also about the socio-political moment of the then communist Czech Republic (Oslovakia).
