The author deals with the challenges that arose from the bloc division of Europe into East and West, but also the possibilities for overcoming conflicts through dialogue and multilateral institutions.

Aćimović concludes that stable security in Europe is possible only with mutual respect for sovereignty, equality of states and strengthening of multilateral cooperation mechanisms. The book is also significant as a document of the time, because it sheds light on the way of thinking and foreign policy priorities in the context of Yugoslavia at the time.
