Star Wars: Nova pobuna

Kristine Kathryn Rusch

"Star Wars: The New Rebellion" is a stand-alone work within the Star Wars Expanded Universe (now known as Legends), set in the New Republic era, approximately 17 years after the events of Return of the Jedi (Battle of Yavin).

As part of the Legends continuity, the book is not part of the current canon following Disney's takeover in 2014, but was significant in the 1990s as a contribution to the development of the New Republic story, sandwiched between novels such as Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy and Kevin J. Anderson's Jedi Academy. Chronologically, it takes place after the founding of Luke's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 and the establishment of the New Republic under Leia's leadership.

The story begins with a mysterious disaster: millions die in the galaxy, causing a disturbance in the Force that Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo sense. Leia, president of the New Republic, faces assassination and a political crisis after an explosion in the Senate, where former Imperials accuse Han Solo of treason. Luke investigates his former student Brakiss, connected to Kueller, a dark Jedi from Almania who is plotting galactic domination. Han and Chewbacca explore the smuggling underworld of Smuggler’s Run, as the plot weaves together political intrigue and space battles.

The novel explores themes of power, loyalty, and the threat of new tyrannies, with nostalgic portrayals of classic characters—Luke, Leia, Han, R2-D2, C-3PO—and introduces new antagonists. Praised for its action but criticized for its lack of character depth, the novel is a key part of the Legends era, appealing to fans who enjoy political and Jedi stories.
