Potopljeni svijet

Potopljeni svijet

James Graham Ballard

J. G. Ballard's novel The Sunken World is a masterpiece of science fiction.

The story takes place in the year 2145, when global warming has melted the Earth's frozen surfaces, the water level has risen and submerged the inhabited part of the planet, and the population has been forced to migrate to the South and North Poles. Ballard's utopian visions of submerged cities and the depiction of modern piracy no longer seem like fantastic speculations today. The submerged world is, unfortunately, a vision of a possible "reverse evolution" that is taking place both in the world and in the human mind, which opens up the spaces for a possible return to the very biological roots of humanity.
