Im rumänischen Hinterland, im letzten europäischen Leprosorium, warten zwei Männer auf die Veränderung der Welt, denn ihre Realität beginnt buchstäblich zu zerfallen. „Hansens Kinder“ ist ein Roman, der das diktatorische Regime der Ceausescus und das Wesen einer Krankheit beschreibt und von unterdrückten Gesellschaften, Wahnvorstellungen, der Ausnahmestellung des Einzelnen gegenüber historischen Strömungen oder dessen zu starker Verstrickung in sie und letztlich von Wahnvorstellungen und den Grenzen von „Gesundheit“ und „Reinheit“ erzählt.
