The Humpbacked Horse (also known as The Humpbacked Horse) is a fairy tale in verse about a young man Ivan and his miraculous, small, but extremely smart and brave little horse.

The story belongs to the classic Russian literary fairy tale and is filled with fantastic motifs, humor and folk elements. The plot begins when Ivan catches three magic horses. Two beautiful horses are taken by the Tsar, while Ivan is left with a small, unsightly, humpbacked horse – but it is he who proves to be the most powerful. The horse becomes Ivan's advisor and faithful assistant, helping him get out of a series of difficult and dangerous tasks that the Tsar sets him out of envy and greed.
