The case of a murdered young woman found in a park is further complicated when an autopsy reveals that the deceased had undergone breast augmentation surgery. Which wouldn't be unusual if it weren't for a nun... And there's the problem of the Pastry Chef, a mysterious burglar who leaves cakes and dead bodies as his "calling card"... And Steve Carella has personal problems, nastier than usual. The man who killed his father and was released has returned to town. The killer fears revenge and believes that the only way to sleep peacefully is to eliminate Carella himself.
