Ein Sommer mit Danica

Ein Sommer mit Danica

Heinz G. Konsalik

A German doctor, broken by life's circumstances, goes to Yugoslavia where, after an accident, he meets Danica. A summer love affair by the sea brings him passion, beauty and the possibility of a new beginning.

Ein Sommer mit Danica is a romance novel by Heinz G. Konsalik set in Yugoslavia, in the atmosphere of a Mediterranean summer, azure sea, sun and rocky shores. The main character is a German doctor who is thrown off the usual life track: after a personal breakdown or crisis, he leaves the known world and goes south, seeking a break from the past and the opportunity to find peace again.

The journey is further disrupted after a car accident. His car also literally “goes off the track”, and it is this event that leads him to meet Danica, a young woman whose beauty, vitality and connection to the climate become the center of his new experience. For him, Danica is not only a love affair but also a symbol of summer, youth, sensuality and something lost that may still be able to return.

The novel combines a romantic story with the atmosphere of travel and escape from his previous life. In the background are the sea, the sun, the glowing rocks and the allure of distant space, but beneath the summer magic lies the drama of a man who must decide whether to remain trapped in his own past or accept the feelings that bring him back to life. Konsalik builds a story about love as a sudden twist of fate, but also about the fragility of happiness that is born in unusual circumstances.
