
Mursa u svjetlu novih izvora i nove literature
Danica Pinterović's scientific study brings new knowledge about Roman Mursa based on archaeological findings and contemporary literature, complementing previous knowledge about ancient Osijek.
The scientific section of the Osijek Anthology, No. XI (1967), presents a study by Danica Pinterović Mursa in the Light of New Sources and New Literature, dedicated to the ancient city of Mursa, the forerunner of today's Osijek. Based on new archaeological finds, epigraphic sources and contemporary scientific literature, the author revises previous knowledge about the development, urbanism and historical significance of Mursa in the Roman period. The paper deals with the position of the city in the system of Roman Pannonia, its military, administrative and economic role and provides a critical review of previous research. The study represents a valuable contribution to Croatian archaeology and knowledge of the ancient history of eastern Croatia.
