Waiting for the Sun

Waiting for the Sun

The Doors

The Doors – Waiting for the Sun, released by Jugoton in 1980, is a licensed Yugoslav edition of the band's third studio album. It features a series of hits and confirms the creative peak of the group led by Jim Morrison.

Waiting for the Sun is the third studio album by the American rock band The Doors, originally released in 1968, while the Yugoslav licensed edition was released by Jugoton in 1980. The album represents an important milestone in the band's career and became their only studio album to reach number one on the US album chart.

The album contains some of the group's most famous songs, including the big hit Hello, I Love You, followed by Love Street, Five to One, The Unknown Soldier, Spanish Caravan and Wintertime Love. The diverse selection of compositions shows the band's ability to combine psychedelic rock, blues, flamenco, jazz and the poetic lyrics of Jim Morrison into a unique and recognizable musical expression.

Jugoton's release from 1980 allowed the domestic audience to acquire one of the group's most important achievements in a quality licensed print. At a time when original Western releases were difficult to obtain, these LPs played an important role in popularizing world rock music among Yugoslav vinyl fans.

Today, Waiting for the Sun, released by Jugoton, is a prized collector's item. In addition to its superb musical value, it also represents an interesting part of the history of domestic discography and bears witness to a period in which licensed releases by the world's greatest artists were an indispensable part of the collections of numerous rock fans.
