The Mysterious Empire The Floating City is a brutal utopia of wealth and violence ruled by Rock, an American veteran of the Vietnam War, turned into a ruthless tyrant. Rock wields a powerful weapon of evil known as the Torch, and the only one who can stop him is Nicholas Linnear. In order to destroy the Floating City and fulfill his debt to the Yakuza dead, Linnear must face his own demons, including painful memories of his love for Koei and dealing with the Japanese criminal underworld he despises.

The Floating City combines elements of thriller, espionage and martial arts, exploring themes of personal responsibility, inner conflict and the fight against evil. Lustbader skillfully balances action and introspective moments, creating a suspenseful story that keeps the reader in suspense until the last page.
