The novel The Girl from the City by Soviet writer Lyubov Voronkova, published in 1942, is a moving story of childhood, survival, and hope during World War II. The work is written in a simple yet emotional style, suitable for younger readers.
The story is set during the Franco-Prussian War (1870–1871), and begins with the escape of French citizens from Rouen, under Prussian occupation. Among them is Elizabeth Rousset, "Dunda", a girl of easy morals but a kind heart.
"Contemporary Croatian Storytellers" is an anthology edited by Miroslav Vaupotić and with an afterword by him, published in 1974 by Spektar. The collection provides an overview of the Croatian prose scene of the second half of the 20th century.
