Black Brothers is a book by Slovenian writer France Bevk that contains two novels for young people: Black Brothers and Teacher Breda. Both works are set in the period of Italian rule over the Slovenian Littoral after World War I and depict the difficult situation of the Slovenian population, who fought to preserve their language, culture and national identity.

In the novel Black Brothers, a group of boys form a secret society to help their compatriots and resist injustice. Through their adventures, the author shows the power of friendship, loyalty and courage. The boys face dangers and temptations, but remain faithful to their ideals and the community to which they belong.

The second novel, Teacher Breda, tells the story of a young teacher who works devotedly among Slovenian children in difficult social circumstances. Despite pressure from the authorities and numerous obstacles, she strives to convey knowledge, love for her mother tongue and a sense of belonging to her own people to her students. Her dedication and sacrifice leave a strong mark on the lives of the children and their families.

Both novels are connected by the theme of the struggle for preserving national identity and the importance of education, community and the moral strength of the individual. Bevk presents historical events through the perspective of children and young people in an accessible and emotional way, making them understandable and close to readers. The book emphasizes the values ​​of freedom, honesty, courage and love for one's own language and culture.
