Zagor LU #152: Tajna Sumerana

Tajna Sumerana begins with an unusual encounter as Zagor and Chico return towards Darkwood. Explorer Dexter Green and his assistant Yambo are transporting a remarkable archaeological find: the mummy of a Sumerian king, destined for Richmond’s museum. Accompanying the travellers soon draws the pair into a new adventure.

At the museum, Zagor and Chico meet Professor Oldbones and private investigator Bat Batterton. Familiar characters and a mysterious cargo bring together the series’ adventure setting and the investigation of an ancient past. What should become a museum exhibit instead stands at the centre of a much larger mystery.

Mauro Boselli uses the mummy and archaeological discovery to develop suspense gradually. Questions about the cargo and the intentions surrounding it turn an apparently scholarly undertaking into something increasingly unsettling. Scientific curiosity and the suggestion of horror establish the tone of this opening chapter.

Gaetano and Gaspare Cassaro illustrate the encounters on the road and the museum setting, preparing the scene for the next instalment. This issue begins a three-part storyline continued in Strava i užas u muzeju and concluded in Stupica i otrov.
