"The Renewal of the Christian Faith" is a distinctly pastoral-theological work in which Heribert Mühlen analyzes the state of faith in contemporary society and presents the paths for its authentic renewal, especially in the light of the Second Vatican Council. The book addresses the question of why faith has weakened in many environments and how it can be reawakened through personal conversion, life in the Holy Spirit, and the renewal of church communities. Mühlen emphasizes that the crisis of faith is not only a consequence of social changes, but also of the inner weaknesses of Christians – formalism, superficiality, loss of the sense of God's presence, and lack of experience of communion.
