Kalemi i biljezi
On the shadows of war, laughter and the border in Bosnian and Croatian literature
The collection Kalemi i biljezi (Stubs and Markers) brings together prose writings and short stories that deal with everyday life, memories, and identity. Through seemingly small and ordinary situations, the author reveals deeper layers of human experience, especially related to the past, family, and social circumstances. The texts often connect personal and collective memory, showing how traces of past events shape the present. The style is concise and reflective, with an emphasis on details and symbolism. The book as a whole explores how the “markers” of the past remain in people and spaces, while the “stubs” symbolize the transmission of experiences and identities through time.
