David Copperfield

David Copperfield

Charles Dickens

The novel follows the life of David Copperfield from a difficult childhood to adulthood, through losses, friendships, love mistakes and personal maturation in one of Dickens' most famous works.

David Copperfield by Charles Dickens is one of the most famous novels in English literature and a classic work about growing up, personal maturation and the search for one's place in the world. Told in the first person, the novel follows David's life from an early childhood marked by loss, uncertainty and difficult experiences, to adulthood, when he gradually shapes his own identity and life path.

Along the way, David meets a series of striking characters - from the caring Aunt Betsey Trotwood and the devoted Mr. Peggotty to the unforgettable, flattering and deceitful Uriah Heep. Through education, work, friendships and love affairs, the novel depicts Victorian society with all its injustices, class differences and moral expectations. At the same time, it is also a very personal story of a sensitive young man who, through mistakes, disappointments and experiences, learns to recognize what true devotion, responsibility and maturity are.

This German edition is further enriched by an afterword by Henry Petter, which gives it added value for readers who appreciate the literary context as well as the novel itself. David Copperfield appeals to lovers of literary classics, Victorian novels, and layered stories of human development, and remains one of Dickens' most widely read and most personal works.
