Jerzy Kosinski

Roman Cockpit (1975.) djelo je poljsko-američkog pisca Jerzyja Kosinskog. Priča prati Tardena, bivšeg agenta tajanstvene sigurnosne agencije "Service", koji je izbrisao svoj identitet iz svih dosjea i postao bjegunac.

Bez fiksnog identiteta, Tarden se kreće svijetom, tražeći avanturu i intrige, koristeći brojne maske i uloge – od osvetnika do spasitelja, od sudca do prevaranta. Ulazeći u živote drugih, prisiljava ih na suočavanje s njegovim sudom, razotkrivajući njihove slabosti i iluzije sigurnosti.

Radnja je fragmentirana, sastoji se od niza epizoda koje prikazuju Tardenove manipulacije, često obilježene psihološkom i fizičkom kontrolom. Roman istražuje teme preživljavanja u neprijateljskom svijetu, gdje Tarden svoju snagu crpi iz apsolutne kontrole, često subvertirajući čak i smrt.

Kosinski koristi mračan, provokativan stil, prožet elementima perverzije, nasilja i društvene kritike, što odražava njegov prepoznatljiv književni pečat. Knjiga je dobila mješovite kritike – dok su je britanski čitatelji hvalili, američki kritičari, poput Kirkus Reviews, smatrali su je manjkom dubine izvan Kosinskijeve vještine naracije.
