Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

The first two stories from the series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

The Study in Scarlet: This short novel, published in 1887, is Conan Doyle's first work featuring Sherlock Holmes as the main character. The work went largely unnoticed by the public, and at the time no one could have guessed that it was the start of a new literary cult.

The Sign of the Four: In this novel, Dr. Watson meets his future wife, Mary Morstan, who urges Sherlock Holmes to search for her missing father. Every year she receives a jewel in a mysterious way, and it all traces its origin to a dark story of murder and betrayal from the time of the great rebellion in India.
