Zapleti ovog trilera zasnovani su na stvarnoj opasnosti koja je ugrožavala saveznički plan "Overlord" za iskrcavanje u Francuskoj i prateći plan "Bodyguard", kojim se moralo zavesti Nijemce s obzirom na mjesto i vrijeme Dana D.

Napetost pojačava već klasični "lov na čovjeka", neidentificiranog njemačkog špijuna, koji ne preza ni pred najokrutnijim rješenjima izvršavajući svoj zadatak. Kad još lovci na obavještajce ustanove da je Nijemac prozreo njihovu lukavu igru maskiranja i zavaravanja s lažnim aerodromima i kartonskim oklopnim pukovima, hajka na tog opasnog agenta poprima široke razmjere. U toj hajci sudjeluju profesionalni kontraobavještajci, ali isto tako i mobilizirani rezervisti, različitih profesija, za koje bi se teško moglo pretpostaviti da sudjeluju u tom dramatičnom lovu na njemačkog špijuna.
