Anne is still in love with Wentworth, but he shows a coldness at first, as he is still hurt by the rejection. During their reunions, Anne demonstrates her intelligence, sensitivity and capacity for compassion. Captain Wentworth attracts the attention of other women, particularly Louisa Musgrove, which causes further misunderstandings.
