Hymn For My Soul

Joe Cocker

Dvadeseti studijski album Joea Cockera iz 2007. godine. CD donosi vrhunski spoj soul, gospel i blues zvuka s dirljivim obradama autora poput Boba Dylana, Georgea Harrisona i Stevieja Wondera.

Objavljen u ožujku 2007. godine pod okriljem izdavačke kuće Parlophone, album Hymn For My Soul predstavlja dvadeseti studijski projekt legendarnog britanskog pjevača Joea Cockera. Pod producentskom palicom renomiranog Ethana Johnsa, ovaj album označio je povratak Cockera njegovim najdubljim glazbenim korijenima – klasičnom soul, gospel, rhythm and blues i folk zvuku, naglašenom toplim, organskim aranžmanima i svirkom uživo u studiju.

Album je koncipiran kao pažljivo odabrana zbirka obrada pjesama velikih autora koji su obilježili suvremenu glazbu. Među njima se ističu verzije pjesama "Ring Them Bells" Boba Dylana, "Beware of Darkness" Georgea Harrisona, "You Haven't Done Nothin'" Stevieja Wondera te naslovna numera "Hymn 4 My Soul" Andyja Fairweathera Lowa. Kroz čitav materijal dominira prepoznatljivi, hrapavi i emotivno nabijeni Cockerov vokal, dok mu vrhunsku sviračku podršku pružaju glazbene veličine poput basista Boba Babbitta i bubnjara Jima Keltnera.

Hvaljen od strane kritike zbog svoje autentičnosti, produkcijske zrelosti i nepatvorene emocije, Hymn For My Soul nezaobilazan je CD za sve kolekcionare kvalitetnog blues-soula i obavezno štivo u kasnijoj diskografiji Joea Cockera.
