The novel "The Zrinjski-Frankopan Conspiracy" (1893) was the most widely read Croatian book for ten years, and, thanks to the interest of readers at the time in historical events, it had a huge influence on younger generations of readers.
The original title is "The Fall of the House of Winshaw or Which ...." - an allusion to E. A. Poe's famous story "The Fall of the House of Usher".
The book is about William Sorrell, who returns home after World War I and faces the challenges of reintegrating into civilian life.
