Essekerovo o-gledalo: osječka kronika 1996-1998

Essekerovo o-gledalo: osječka kronika 1996-1998

Darko Kovačević-Baltazar

In this book, the weekly columns, all 128 of them, that I wrote and published on the Slavonija regional page in the daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija from April 14, 1996 to October 12, 1998, are in one place.

O-Gledalo was characterized by a constant theme. It was Osijek for the past seven days. There was politics, economy, culture, sports and everything interesting that happened in the city. Everything in front of it is reflected or mirrored in a mirror (or mirror). So are the Osijek events in my O-Gledal. And I also explained to myself that I was an "Osijek gazelo" or a man who watches and writes down. Like some city chronicler. The signing was logical - Esseker. So, any citizen of Osijek who notices and writes down, criticizes or, jokingly, maybe sometimes cynically, comments - says Darko Kovačević. He adds that during "his time" writing for Slobodna, Osijek's correspondence was run by Bojan Divjak, and journalists Tomislav Prusina, Nenad Rizvanović, Kristina Peternai, Igor Mikulić and Tomislav Levak worked or collaborated.

Darko Kovačević was born on July 24, 1956 in Osijek, and became a journalist in 1987, since then he has been working for Glas Slavonia. Esseker's O-Watch is his first words. The second will be his experiences related to his friend Arsen Dedić, who gave him the nickname Baltazar, and the third book will definitely be autobiographical or memoir.
