Zagor LU maxi #2 : Dugo putovanje
The Maxi edition Long Journey, authored by Moreno Burattini and drawn by Mauro Laurentini, brings the adventure of Ghost with an Axe, which stands out for its strong criticism of colonialism and solid narrative, making it a significant addition to Zagor's
Zagor and Čiko meet Satko, a lawyer and proud fighter of the Cherokee tribe, who fights against the injustice done to his people. Unscrupulous white politicians, driven by greed for land, force the Cherokee to leave their homes, leading to tragic deportation. Zagor, guided by justice, decides to help Satko in the fight against corrupt authorities and violent gangs.
The plot follows Zagor's mission to protect Satko and his tribe, as he faces military patrols, betrayals and moral dilemmas. The story interweaves action scenes with a deep depiction of the suffering of the Cherokee people, highlighting historical injustice and Zagor's role as a defender of the oppressed. Satko, as an educated but warlike character, brings freshness to the narrative, while Čiko brings humor to the dark atmosphere. Ferri's drawing masterfully evokes drama and dynamics, with an emphasis on expressive characters and wilderness landscapes.
According to reader reviews, the episode was praised for its emotional depth and historical sensitivity, although some criticized the over-idealization of Zagor as a hero.
