Corpus Mysticum

Corpus Mysticum

Dimitrije Popović

"Impressive! Impressive!" - Pope John Paul II. in front of Dimitri's Crucifixion, 1994.

"The purpose and goal of this book of mine is not to justify the conceptual character of some works from the Corpus mysticum cycle, because I have no intention, nor would I want to justify anything in that sense, but I have the need to clarify, explain what some of the 'provocative' solutions are based on my compositions... I will also indicate art-theoretical works from painting, philosophy, theology, psychology, literature and history, which particularly captured my attention and deepened my interest in the various dimensions of this complex topic, which I have been dealing with for more than 25 years. Of course, the Bible is the fundamental source of inspiration for my works in the Corpus mysticum cycle."
