Saint Benedict is one of the fathers of Western culture and a spiritual great. He is the founder of the Benedictine order, one of the oldest orders in the Christian West. Pope Gregory the Great, his biographer and spiritual son, writes about him: "He was a man of honorable life with the name Benedict, which means Blessed with name and grace." His greatness and merit lies in the fact that he so permeated the European world with his ideas and works that his inspiration and momentum lived on for centuries.
