In addition to presenting the nature of art research in the 1950s and determining the modalities of their critical reception, the author also follows events in the socio-political context, analyzes their influence on the field of culture and art, and tries to interpret each of the included art phenomena in relation to the fundamental trends of the European art scene. of that time. By moving within a much broader cultural and historical context, a departure from the previous ways of interpreting this period was established, a spiritual and creative climate was recreated within which the process of modernist paradigm reconstruction took place, and the formulated meaning of the concept of modernity, which Croatian art and Croatian art criticism will have at their disposal in the coming decades.
