Having hidden in her castle the poor and young Jelica, whose mother was declared a witch and condemned to be burned at the stake, and then she was also declared a witch, the young countess Nera will resent the city judge and lawyer and find herself under the same accusation. All the more so since he works with a group of noblemen to eradicate superstitions and save accused women from torture in the infamous tower near the Stone Gate and death at the stake.
